The Objectives of the Future Event Horse League have remained unchanged
since its inception in 2000. If a synopsis were required, it might be
defined as the "pursuit of excellence" in the identification, production
and promotion of the best Irish-bred horses which might, in the future,
continue to contribute to the pre-eminence of the Irish Sport Horse
on the world stage in the sport of eventing.
As
before, FEHL adjudicates three distinctive phases:
Ridden Display of Basic Flatwork (RD)
Jumping (J)
Suitability & Potential
(S&P)
FEHL continues to present a League for 4-year old and 5-year old Irish-bred
horses. We are the Kindergarten for potential international event horses
and a defining link in the long chain from the breeding of a horse to
its appearance in a four-star CCI.
Horses aged 6 and
upwards continue to be catered for by way of a Speed Derby
Our Training Programme
offers competitors a variety of options to prepare, train and thus present
their horses to maximum advantage.
FEHL is a truly nationwide
phenomenon, having Qualifiers throughout the country.
The criteria for
horses' eligibility to compete in FEHL are explicit and specific. No
exceptions can be accommodated.
The rules for qualification
for the FEHL Final continue to insist on Minimum Accepted Standard in
each phase of adjudication, irrespective of total (or gross) scores
in the overall competition.
The joint initiative
with the Royal Dublin Society (Click
here for details) will continue in 2010, offering our
competitors an opportunity to qualify for its Young Event Horse Class
at the Dublin Horse Show in August and the Young Rider Derby in 2011.
Because of the unique
nature of FEHL courses, we have developed specific Jumping Rules to
adjudicate the challenges presented. Competitors should familiarise
themselves with these in advance of competition.
Some FEHL Organisers
are themselves breeders, owners and producers of young horses. All eligible
horses compete without favour or prejudice and are subject to the same
criteria of adjudication. Five different judges assess entry at each
venue and they function independently of one another and of the organisers.
It
is the responsibility of every competitor to comply with all the printed
Rules in this schedule. Non-compliance will result in elimination. It
is the responsibility of the Organisers to apply the rules - not to
police the competitors.
