Introduction

The Objectives of the Future Event Horse League have remained unchanged since its inception in 2000 (see inside front cover). Six years of evolution and valuable experience gained have resulted in an ever-clearer vision of what FEHL should be all about. We hope that all this collected wisdom is reflected in this Schedule for 2006, our seventh season.

As before, FEHL is made up of its three distinctive phases:

Ridden Display of Basic Flatwork (RD)
Jumping (J)
Suitability & Potential (S&P)

This Schedule contains a number of important additions and changes:
FEHL continues to be a League for 4-year old and 5-year old horses. We are the Kindergarten for potential international event horses and an important link in the long chain from the breaking of a horse to its appearance in a four-star CCI.

Horses aged 6 and upwards continue to catered for by way of a Speed Derby

Our Training Programme has been greatly expanded (see below) by the introduction of two eight-week series of Clinics, concentrating on Basic Flatwork

The void on the map in the south-east of the Republic has been covered by the very welcome addition of our eighth Qualifier, at Forth Mountain Stud in Barntown, Co. Wexford

The criteria for horses eligible for participation in FEHL (see below) have been extended

The rules for qualification to the FEHL Final (see below), while not being made more difficult, have been tightened in the interest of versatility and consistency of performance

A joint initiative with the Royal Dublin Society (see below) has been introduced, offering our competitors an opportunity to compete in a new Young Event Horse Class at the Dublin Horse Show in August
