Presentation
In 2005, we successfully introduced the
concept of 'Presentation' as part of the judging of Suitability
& Potential.
It is based on the Continental system,
using a simple equilateral triangle of 20x20x20 metres, as shown
below. It takes place immediately after you have left the arena
for the Ridden Display of Basic Flatwork, the horse having been
stripped of its saddle, and the procedure is as follows:
Conformation
You present your horse stationary before the
Judge at A, standing all square, for the examination of conformation,
limbs etc.
Movement: Walk and Trot in
hand
You are asked to walk your horse in a straight
line from A to B, show medium walk across the top base of the
triangle from B to C and then walk in a straight line from C back
to A. The same demonstration is repeated in trot, showing some
lengthened strides across the base of the triangle from B to C.
Presentation
You must demonstrate that the horse is
able to walk and trot on a loose rein beside you, in straight
lines and without being 'dragged' by the rider.

This is a very simple exercise requiring
only a bridle and a lead-rope and we urge you to practise it regularly
at home.
